Building an AI Twitter Community Manager
Learn how to create an autonomous AI agent that manages your Twitter account, posts content, and engages with your audience 24/7 using artificial intelligence.
What You'll Build
In this tutorial, you'll create an AI-powered Twitter agent that can:
- Post tweets automatically - Share AI-generated content on a schedule or based on triggers
- Reply to mentions - Use AI to engage with users who mention your account
- Monitor trends - AI agent tracks hashtags and topics relevant to your niche
- Analyze engagement - Track performance and adjust AI strategy
Prerequisites
Before starting, you'll need:
- •An Everna account (sign up at app.everna.io)
- •A Twitter/X account you want to automate
No technical setup needed! Just sign in with your Twitter account and you're ready to go.
Step 1: Create Your Twitter Agent
Create New Agent
Go to app.everna.io and click "New Agent". Give it a name like "Twitter Manager" or "Social Media Bot".
Define Your Goal
This is the most important part. Your goal should be specific and clear. Here are some examples:
Example 1: Content Sharing Bot
"Post daily tweets about AI and automation trends. Search for the latest news about artificial intelligence, summarize key points, and share them with my audience. Post once every 8 hours. Keep tweets under 280 characters, use relevant hashtags, and maintain a professional but friendly tone."
Example 2: Engagement Bot
"Monitor my Twitter mentions and replies. When someone mentions me or replies to my tweets, analyze the content and respond appropriately. If it's a question, provide a helpful answer. If it's positive feedback, thank them. If it's spam, ignore it. Respond within 1 hour of receiving the mention."
Example 3: Trend Monitoring Bot
"Track tweets containing #webdev and #javascript. When an interesting discussion or resource is shared (high engagement, from credible accounts), retweet it with a thoughtful comment. Aim to share 3-5 pieces of valuable content per day. Focus on tutorials, tools, and best practices."
Example 4: Product Launch Bot
"Promote my new SaaS product 'ProductName'. Create and post engaging tweets about features, benefits, and use cases. Mix promotional content with valuable tips and industry insights (70% value, 30% promotion). Post 2-3 times per day. Include a call-to-action link to the website in promotional tweets. Monitor replies and engagement, respond to questions about the product."
Connect Your Twitter Account
In the tools section, enable the Twitter tool. You'll be redirected to Twitter to sign in and grant permission. This lets your agent post tweets, read mentions, and interact on your behalf.
Note: Just sign in with your Twitter account. No technical setup required. You can disconnect anytime from your Twitter settings.
Optional: Enable Web Search to help your agent find trending topics and news to share, Twitter Search to search through tweets, and the Time tool for scheduling.
Create Your Agent
Click "Create Agent" to deploy. Your Twitter bot will start running immediately and begin working on your goal!
Best Practices & Tips
- Provide value first
Focus on sharing useful content rather than just promoting. The 80/20 rule works well: 80% value, 20% promotion.
- Monitor initially
Watch your agent's first few posts carefully. Make sure it's following your instructions correctly before letting it run fully autonomous.
- Set clear boundaries
In your goal, specify what the agent should NOT do. For example: "Never engage with trolls or controversial topics" or "Don't retweet political content".
- Include personality
Give your agent a voice. Specify the tone: "casual and friendly", "professional and informative", "witty and playful", etc.
Monitoring & Adjustments
Once your agent is running, regularly check its performance:
Review Analytics
Check your Twitter analytics to see which posts perform best. Use this data to refine your agent's goal.
Read Agent Logs
View your agent's activity in the Everna dashboard. See what it's posting and how it's interpreting your goal.
Send Interrupts
Give your agent real-time feedback. For example: "Great job on that last tweet! Do more like that."
Update the Goal
As you learn what works, refine your goal. Be more specific about tone, topics, and timing.
Common Issues
Agent isn't posting
Verify that the Twitter tool is properly activated and configured in your agent settings. If the issue persists, try removing the tool and re-adding it to refresh the connection.
Posts are too generic
Your goal may need more specificity. Add detailed instructions about topics, tone, and content style. For better results, include a directive for your agent to review previous tweets from the account before posting to ensure fresh, varied content.
Agent is posting too frequently
Adjust the cycle timing in your agent settings to increase the interval between posts. This gives your agent more time between actions and prevents excessive posting.
